Planning for Results: A Public Library Transformation Process

"Planning for Results" provides a results-driven programme that empowers public librarians to meet community needs and to develop strategies to anticipate future demands. It covers essential tools for library planning: rethinking existing roles in the community, evaluating choices and opportunities, and developing the right service responses. The planning process enables librarians to envision, evaluate and respond to community needs with distinctive programmes and services. Librarians are able to customize each step to their specific situations. Using this planning process, librarians can answer such questions as: what is the library's role in the community?; what does the community want from the library?; and what service responses will best meet the needs of the community? This book is an introductory guide which explains each step of the planning process. It incorporates 13 service responses and guidelines for developing customized responses.
