TERAPIA NUTRICIONAL PARA PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS COM CAQUEXIA 1 NUTRITIONAL THERAPY FOR ONCOLOGY PATIENTS WITH CACHEXIA

Nutritional therapy for cancer patients is an important tool for their treatment to be effective. The supply of nutrients in an individualized way in order to reduce the side effects caused by medications and to improve or maintain an adequate nutritional status is critical to patient recovery. This article makes a literature review in some databases such as SciELO, PubMed and Science Direct, and it aims to verify in literature which are the most appropriate nutritional therapies for the treatment of cancer patients with cachexia. This review allowed to conclude that there are several dietary behaviors that may be instituted to minimize the side effects caused by the cancer treatment. The nutritionist should make use of these strategies to improve or maintain the nutritional status of these patients.
