Assistive AR technology for hearing impairments in driving lessons

Access to public services and transport negatively impacts the quality of daily life for citizens with hearing and speaking impairments. Building traffic knowledge for vulnerable youngsters, requires to be tackled while an Inclusive Society is promoted, in the context of 2 Smart City facets: “Interactive and Aware City” and “Learning City”. The current work proposes a mobile Augmented Reality solution for understanding and individual practicing driving scenarios oriented on traffic signs. Besides its general educative role, the solution focuses on its assistive contribution, exposing the perception of young pupils with hearing/speaking impairments towards such approaches.
