Viscosity of Some Quadrupolar Gases and Vapors

Viscosity of acetylene, carbon dioxide, carbon disulfide, and benzene has been measured in the gaseous state (at pressures below 10 cm Hg) by a precision all‐metal oscillating‐disk viscometer. All of these substances have comparatively large quadrupole moments. Attempts have been made to derive information on quadrupole‐quadrupole interactions from these data.
