A thermodynamic perspective of DNA bending

Abstract A brief overview is presented of some recent examples of studies that are beginning to provide insights into the thermodynamics of DNA bending. Such data, which currently are quite sparse, are required not only for a basic understanding of this intriguing sequence-dependent structural distortion, but also for assessing the degree to which DNA bending may contribute to the forces that drive biologically significant events.
