A COMPARISON OF REVEALED PREFERENCE AND STATED PREFERENCE MODELS OF TRAVEL BEHAVIOUR

Contributes to the issue of the validity of using stated preference experiments by comparing the values of time derived from revealed preference and stated preference models of travel behavior. A particular feature of the analysis is the comparison of values of time which stratified by a number of relevant socioeconomic factors. This allows a more detailed assessment of the stated preference responses than is possible by just comparing the overall values derived. The results suggest that stated preferences provide an accurate guide to individuals actual preferences.
