Gas dynamic effects in ait conduits of pneumatic shock mechanisms

As part of the detailed analysis of the processes making up the operation of a pneumatic shock mechanism (PSM) used in mining and many other industries, the authors investigate the parameters of the air conduits in order to find out air flow rate coefficients used for calculations. The description of processes in the air conduits of PSM are based on nonstationary problems of gas dynamics and a quasi-one-dimensional approach. According to this approach, the PSM model includes a complex system of equations that describe the gas dynamics of chambers and channels and the motions of mobile elements of the machine as shown here. The model has been used to analyze the existing design of pneumatic drills and their possible modification.
