FINAL DESTINATION OF SOLID WASTE IN THE CITY OF MONTE ALEGRE DE MINAS-MG

This article discusses problems caused by improper disposal of trash, which are most evident in that the amount of waste increases in inverse proportion to the space availability in towns for disposal. The goal, therefore, was to know the history of Monte Alegre de Minas/MG, in that it is separation of household waste selective collection, disposal of garbage. Initially, we made a literature on the history of the city, later three people linked to waste management were interviewed and a search was conducted with 10 residents in each neighborhood of the city to examine the relationship of the population with the trash. In 65% of the neighborhoods collecting is done only twice a week and only 35% of respondents know that the final destination of solid waste in the city. The vast majority of people polled (95%) never practiced selective collection and 33% of them do not want to do it even if such difficulties were remedied. The results show how the ratio of the population with garbage continues wrong with prejudices and lack of interest in seeking alternatives to resolve the issue.
