Frequency up-conversion in a borate glass doped with Pr3+

Abstract We report on the observation of anti-Stokes emission 3 P 0 → 3 H 4 following excitation of the 1 D 2 level of Pr 3+ in (B 2 O 3 ) 0.7 (CaF 2 ) 0.3 . A simple model which considers energy transfer inside pairs of Pr 3+ ions is used to describe the up-converted emission.
