Design criteria and electromagnetic analysis of a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous machine

This paper deals with design criteria and characteristics analysis included electromagnetic losses analysis of a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor for a 7.5-kW, 60-krpm class centrifugal air compressor. In order to design this machine, we introduced analytical techniques, such as the electromagnetic transfer relations theorem and equivalent magnetic circuit method. And, from the curve-fitting method using the modified Steinmetz equation and Poyntingpsilas theorem, we estimated electromagnetic losses, such as core loss and rotor loss. The analysis results are validated by nonlinear finite element analysis.
