Highly oxidised gold skarn fluids evolution in the Mezcala deposit, Guerrero, Mexico

Abstract Intrusives associated with the Mezcala oxidised Fe Au skarns present a prograde and retrograde alteration process. The early mineralized fluids are strongly oxidised and saturated in salts. These fluids evolve rapidly to cold and diluted fluids, probably under the influence of meteoritic waters, during the mineralized precipitation event.
