Fuzzy color edge extraction by inference rules quantitative study and evaluation of performances

In the hue saturation intensity (HSI) space, a color edge detection approach based on fuzzy if-then rules is presented. This method avoids the difficulty to combine hue and intensity features. Noise sensitivity and edges localization are studied on synthetic images. Application on real images is given. The results show a good edge localization and a noise sensitivity.
