Design of a planar half-circle-shaped UWB notch antenna

In this paper, we propose a small, lightweight, and low-cost ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna that exhibits a notch characteristic in the 5-GHz WLAN band (5.15–5.825 GHz) using a planar half-circle shape patch, a two-step matching stub, a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-type feed, and a hat-shaped slot. The notch frequency of the proposed antenna can be adjusted by controlling the slot length. The measured results are in reasonably good agreement with the simulated results. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
