Utra-high speed wireless technology from a system of systems perspective

Ultra-high speed wireless systems have gained an increasing attention in recent years. The development of multi Gbps wireless link for personal wireless networks (WPAN) is linked to several constituent systems, each autonomous, yet interconnected. This paper looks into the emergence of a new technology within a system of systems perspective. One of the characteristics of System of Systems is emergence and one can consider the commercialization of a new technology as an emerging phenomenon in a relevant SoS. Here, by considering user behavior, policy environment, available content and technology developments as constituent legacy system, the effect of each on the emergence of multi-Gbps WPAN is analyzed.
