Resilience assessment using microgrids in radial distribution network

Resiliency of the power network is a challenge nowadays due to increased natural threats on the system. Power restoration in the event of faults is carried out by changing the network structure of the Electrical distribution system, by maintaining the operational limits. The paper presents the significance of Resilience and its assessment in Power systems during Natural Catastrophes. A resilience based metric is formulated and computed using a typical case study. Microgrid based restoration approach has been proposed for Resilience Improvement. The proposed method is tested on a modified IEEE 37-node test feeder system and the effectiveness of the method is evaluated.
