Nucleotide sequence of the bovine vitamin D3 receptor.

Mammary tissue was obtained a t necropsy from a lactating Jersey cow. Total RNA was extracted from bovine mammary tissue, and poly A was selected (4, 10). The RNA products were inserted into phagemid vectors (pcDNA 11) and transfected into Escherichia coli (Invitrogen Corp., San Diego, CA) (10 ) . The phagemid library was screened with a 1235-bp human VDR. cDNA probe ( 2 , 10). Three positive clones were identified, ranging in size from 1300 to 1990 bp.
