A novel control strategy for five-phase concentrated full-pitch windings induction motor under open-phase fault

This paper presents a novel control of five-phase induction motor under open-phase fault, the proposed control scheme ensures that five-phase concentrated full-pitch winding induction motor operates continuously without additional hardware connections. The decoupled model of five-phase concentrated full-pitch windings induction motor has been built, by calculating the steady-state electromagnetic torque, condition for reducing the electrical torque oscillations is analyzed. On the basis above, a rotor field-oriented tolerant control method is proposed, reference voltages are calculated, and then the control method referred is validated by simulations and experiments for one phase open. The simulations and experimental results have verified that the proposed method could reduce the electrical torque oscillations of five-phase induction motor operated under phases open greatly.
