Diagnosis of Nonlinear Faults in Large Rotating Machinery Based on Pseudo-Phase Portrait

The theory of phase space reconstruction with time delay embedding was explained comprehensively, and used for extracting qualitative features of nonlinear fault in large rotating machinery. As the effect of noise and the plane of attractor projection must be considered, this paper introduced a useful method of reconstruction of pseudo phase portrait based on singular value decomposition(SVD). The results show that the pseudo phase portrait is in some sense similar to an orbit. The signal noise can be reduced, and the pseudo phase portrait can be reconstructed from a single time series, so it can be used to qualitatively recognize different faults.
