CALIBRATION AND VERIFICATION OF THE NEW CSA CODE FOR OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

In 1983, the Canadian Standards Association was asked by the Canada Oil and Gas Lands Administration and the Canadian Petroleum Association to develop a code for the design, construction and installation of fixed offshore oil and gas production structures. The purpose of this code is to provide engineering standards by which all Canadian offshore oil and gas production structures will be designed and installed and to ensure the required level of human safety and protection of the environment. This new code is unique in the way it handles the probabilistic aspects of target safety levels, a wide variety of environmental loads unique to Canadian waters and load combinations.
