Study on the new characteristics and prevention measures of cascading failure under the condition of clean energy grid-connected

With the continuous improvement of large-scaled clean energy grid-connection capacity and the increasing number of HVDC transmission projects, a large number of power electronic equipments have been connected to the power system, resulting in cascading failure modes and new characteristics of the evolution process. Based on this background, this thesis firstly analyzes the influencing factors of cascading faults in transmission network of different forms. Secondly, the construction method and flow chart of cascading failure situation are proposed. The cascading failure situations of two different typical systems of local energy consumption and outgoing energy supply are analyzed by simulation. Thirdly summarize the new characteristics of cascading failures in different power grid forms, and put forward corresponding preventive and control measures to improve the high voltage ride-through capability and frequency ride-through capability of wind turbine generators in order to reduce the probability of cascading failures in power grid.
