A Network Selection Algorithm Based on Improved Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, for the defects which the basic genetic algorithm can get local optimum easily and converge slowly, the genetic algorithm is improved by constructing a suitable fitness function and improving genetic operators. Meanwhile, the improved genetic algorithm is applied to select optimal access network in integrated heterogeneous wireless networks. According to Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of different business types, compared with combined the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) and the basic genetic algorithm, the simulation results indicate that the improved genetic algorithm can find a network with higher fitness and better meet different QoS.
