Risk-analysis-based Pareto-optimal paths of hazardous materials transportation by road

A framework based on risk analysis for determination of optimal routes for the transport of hazardous materials(hazmat)is presented. The routing criterions are involved with transport accident probabilities, population exposure, impact population risk, environment risk, path length and travel time.In order to perform this optimization,Pareto optimal paths algorithm with positive weighting factors is used to search the efficient approximation of Pareto front, which can keep the possible tradeoffs between many conflicting routing objectives. And these routing objectives units are normalized by dividing each objective unit on the path by the shortest objective unit in the network and expressing it as a number without dimension. The routing method may reduce the population risk of along the travel routes within the hazmat impact radius, and support the decision of government and carriers about hazmat routing.
