Elastic scattering of high-energy protons from nuclei

Abstract The elastic scattering of high-energy protons from zero-spin nuclei is considered within the framework of Glauber theory. The sensitivity of the cross sections to the nuclear structure and to the proton-nucleon amplitude is studied. Results of calculations demonstrating the investigated effects are presented for the case of 1 GeV proton scattering from 4 He, 16 O and 58 Ni.
