Dual-band antenna cube for MIMO applications

In this paper, a dual-band MIMO cube is proposed and fabricated. The cube is constructed from FR-4 PCBs, which is relatively low cost and is also makes it relatively straightforward for us to prototype. The entire cube size is identical to the single-band cube reported in [2]. The key procedure is to cut an asymmetric edge slot on one of the cross slot antenna elements, such that a combination of single- and dual-band operation cross slot antennas are produced and they become the basic radiating elements of the dual-band cube. The estimated capacities of the proposed cube are lower from that of i.i.d. Rayleigh fading models because we believe that the mutual couplings between the ports have a significant impact on capacities.
