Experimental CNN Setup and Applications to Motion Control

In the previous chapter very interesting spatio-temporal phenomena have been shown to take place in reaction diffusion CNNs. The design of the single CNN cell has proved that a modulation of its parameters is sufficient to describe a limit cycle characterized by a slow -fast dynamics, or a stable fixed point. Most interestingly, the corresponding reaction diffusion CNN is able to show autowaves in the first case, and Turing patterns in the second case. Such a fact strictly reflects the behavior of complex dynamics in nature, which, though thoroughly different to one another, are functionally all particular cases of reaction diffusion mechanisms. Moreover the study performed on parametric uncertainties and noise revealed a certain degree of robustness of the designed structure, therefore opening the way to its hardware implementation.
