In the current strategic context of coping with global climate change, low carbon concept has gained more and more popularity. For highway transportation system, as one of the main carbon emitters, how to realize effective energy-saving and carbon emission-reducing to achieve green transportation has become a new topic for the next National Twelfth Five-Year Plan. The content and features of green highway is defined based on the characteristics of green transportation system firstly in this paper. Taking Jjiangxi Yongwu scenic highway for example, the low carbon technique of green highway construction are identified respectively from three aspects of green highway "carbon offset" green belt and "carbon-neutral" service area design, environmentally friendly construction technical system of the highway with environmentally sensitive water bodies and full circle dynamic tracking technique and evaluation of green highway ecological restoration. The development and utilization of green clean energy including Solar, geothermal and biomass for green highway is studied to optimize energy consumption structure of highway service facilities. Low carbon techniques and application for highway service facilities are also analyzed in Intelligent energy-saving building construction, evaporative cooling energy-saving technique, water-saving technology for highway service facilities, rainwater and sewage collection and reuse in highway service area and waste separation and collection, which establishes the low carbon techniques and application system for green highway, and provides theoretical guidance and technical support for the future green highway transportation system construction.
