Sliding mode fuzzy logic control technique for induction motor drive system fed by three-level NPC inverter

The paper presents a novel control method for direct torque and flux control (DTFC) of an induction machine (IM) fed by a three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) sliding mode pulse width modulated (SMPWM) voltage source inverter. The control principle is based on sliding mode nonlinear technique combined with fuzzy logic (sliding mode fuzzy logic control, SMFLC). The proposed robust-intelligent controller improves low speed performance, torque and flux ripple and its dynamic performance is better than the conventional methods.
