ANALYSIS OF THE CONTROL OF CHAOS-RATE OF CONVERGENCE

In this paper we look at the convergence properties of a well-known method for controlling chaos recently devised by Ott, Grebogi and Yorke (OGY) ["Controlling chaos," Phys. Rev. Lett.64 (11), 1990, pp. 1196-1199]. From this analysis we arrive at a number of improved methods in that they possess better convergence properties than the OGY method. The control methods are similarly implemented via small bounded perturbations of a single system parameter, or the use of a second parameter and are shown to be superior to the OGY method in the control of the Duffings equation.
