First record of a psilid fly feeding on cecidomyiid galls

Abstract We found larvae of Chylizasplendida Iwasa (Diptera: Psilidae) feeding on galls induced by Asphondyliabaca Monzen (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) on the buds of Weigelafloribunda (Sieb. & Zucc.) K. Koch (Caprifoliaceae) in Japan. This is the first confirmed report of cecidophagy in the Psilidae. Résumé Nous avons trouvé des larves de Chyliza splendida Iwasa (Diptera : Psilidae) en train de se nourrir de galles provoquées par Asphondylia baca Monzen (Diptera : Cecidomyiidae) sur des bourgeons de Weigela floribunda (Sieb. & Zucc.) K. Koch (Caprifoliaceae) au Japon. C'est le premier cas de cécidophagie confirmée rapporté chez les Psilidae. [Traduit par la Rédaction]
