Mode of action of antifungal agents

This symposium volume surveys the cellular and biochemical mechanisms by which antifungal agents and drugs prevent and counteract diseases caused by fungi. Both plants and animals are susceptible to attack and the consequences are often of great economic and social importance. Agriculturalists concerned with crop protection and animal husbandry need to know how antifungals work and such knowledge may help doctors and veterinary surgeons to use drugs more effectively in the treatment of fungal diseases. The contributors to this volume are an international group of leading workers in the field and come from both academic and industrial research laboratories. The book thus gives a comprehensive account of current research and points to problems still to be tackled.
