The Instructional Design Evaluation of a Courseware of a Malaysian Virtual University.

A computer multimedia courseware has been used as a supplementary learning tool in Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR), a Malaysian virtual university, to complement face-to-face classes, online tutorials and lecture notes. This paper reports on an evaluation of this courseware in relation to the incorporated instructional, screen and interface designs. The evaluation was conducted through students' assessments of these designs based on various attributes that included language and grammar, the amount of content and objectives, audio features, learning strategies, test items and feedback. Generally, the results show that the courseware is effective as a supplementary learning material. The outcome of the evaluation on each attribute is discussed especially where it pertained to the improvement of the quality of teaching as well as the development of other types of courseware for instructional purposes.
