Identification of discrete probability distributions from partial information

The problem of identifying discrete probability distributions from incomplete information is examined. Principles of and techniques for making inferences and decisions from this information are developed. These are illustrated through application to three areas: decision analysis under partial uncertainty, probabilistic logic, and probabilistic database theory.
