Performance of Web-browsing services over the WCDMA-FDD downlink shared channel

The WCDMA radio interface provides different transport channels for packet data services. We consider the downlink-shared channel (DSCH) for the offering of Web-browsing services in a macrocellular environment. System-level simulations are used to investigate the influence of radio access parameters on the performance results. The effect of the power control and the scheduling algorithm are also discussed for the definition of the simulation model. Our simulation results demonstrate that the DSCH is suitable to serve a limited number of users per cell in terms of active session throughput.
