This article describes how wireless Internet services can offer significant advances by providing remote access to a large array of Internet-based data networks or applications. Wireless Internet works in conjunction with browsers and web pages that are specifically designed for wireless devices with limited screen displays and low- speed data transmissions. Drivers in turn use the technology for real-time, low-cost access to a fleet's intranet or specific public Internet sites. Coverage is cited as one of the few weaknesses in current wireless Internet services.
