Dynamic response analysis of offshore wind turbine tower under random wind and wave loads

Dynamic response of the offshore wind turbine under random wind and wave loads is a major problem in offshore wind turbine structural design.The random wind and wave time histories were calculated by the harmony superposition method,and the wave load calculation method considering the wave surface elevation variation was also investigated.In time domain,the dynamic responses of offshore wind turbine under random wind and wave were studied by the dynamic FEM in two cases.The influence of wave surface elevation variation on dynamic responses calculation is discussed.The calculation results show that the random wave loads were underestimated at the wave peak and overestimated at the wave trough if not considering the wave surface elevation variation effect.The wave surface elevation variation will also affect the dynamic response of offshore wind turbine tower which should be considered in practical engineering design.
