An infra-red spectrometer to operate over the range 8-100 micrometres

A description is given of an evacuated path, single beam infra-red spectrometer. The optical layout, which is of the grating filter type, is described, as is the mechanical system. The instrument measures absorption spectra over the range 1250-100 cm-1 with a maximum resolution of about 0.5 cm-1.
