Virtual Hopf precursor of period-doubling route in directly modulated semiconductor lasers

The effects of noise on the period-doubling route in deeply modulated laser diodes are investigated. The dynamics are studied by employing the single-mode rate equations with consideration of Langevin noise. It is found that the period-doubling event in laser diodes has a virtual Hopf precursor and is enhanced by the existing Langevin noise. >
