During 2009, the Swedish parliament decided that the mandatory conscription service should be become resting in peace time and replaced with a voluntary military training and professional standing or part time soldiers. The motivation for this change was to ensure a more effective defense at a lower cost. At the same time a new concept for basic training was launched GMU(basic military training). The purpose of this paper is that using a qualitative method to compare the recruits and officers' experiences from the first year of GMU (2011) with its latest GMU ( 2014). This is to see if the training has improved or if the Armed Forces is stuck or if it is evolving to cope with the problems. Among the problems that remain from 2011 is that there is an uncertainty for the future due to the constant changes that are made regarding organization and economics. This uncertainty is something that primarily affects officers' daily lives. Improvements made since 2011 is that the recruits now do not feel the same concern for their future as they did in 2011.
