Redundant cluster-based routing in wireless sensor networks

With the development of wireless communication and microelectronic technology, wireless sensor network (WSN) have shown big potential in environmental monitoring and industrial applications. Failures of nodes or links are inevitable in sensor networks due to the inhospitable environment and unattended deployment. To improve the reliability of wireless sensor networks, a cluster-based routing method using redundant cluster-heads technique is presented. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that, the proposed cluster-based routing method has higher reliability than the single cluster-head model, and is feasible for forest fire monitoring and industrial applications.
