A new transducerless magnetic suspension system using analogue control has previously been described. Digital control of this system using a TMS 320C30 DSP has now been successfully implemented. The digital controller does not use observer control and thus remains essentially simple This enhances the provision of extremely high reliability and at the same time greater flexibility in magnetic bearing applications.
