Strategic Bidding of an Electricity Distribution Company with Distributed Generation and Interruptible Load in a Day-Ahead Electricity Market

This article introduces an optimal strategic bidding model for an electricity distribution company (EDC) to achieve maximum profits in a day-ahead electricity market. The proposed model is formulated as a two-level optimization problem, where the outer level represents individual EDCs and maximizes their profits, while the inner level represents independent system operator and minimizes operating costs. In this model, distributed generations and interruptible loads of an EDC are bid in the day-ahead market. The model is solved using general algebraic modeling system language. The results confirm the efficiency of the proposed model in determining the optimal strategic bidding of EDCs.
