For most of us time is a scarce resource. In our daily lives we are constantly allocating time among various activities and people. Allocating time among people is different from allocating it among activities. In allocating time among activities I need only consider my own preferences. In allocating my time among people I need to consider my own preferences and the willingness of others to spend time with me.
