Research on an Improved Distributed Fault Detection Algorithm for Node Failure Diagnosis in Wireless Sensor Networks

The wireless sensor networks(WSNs)is an important method for remote and distributed environment monitoring.As one of the key technique involved in WSNs,diagnosis of node failures is indispensable in most WSNs applications.The DFD(Distributed Fault Detection)algorithm,which checks out the failed nodes by data exchanging and mutual testing among intra-network neighbor nodes,can be applied for failure diagnosis.In this paper,the diagnosis criterion for DFD algorithm is amended,and an improved DFD algorithm is proposed.Simulation results demonstrate that the improved DFD algorithm is able to deal with the WSNs where the neighbor number of nodes to be diagnosed is all small and the node's failure ratio is high.They also show that the improved DFD algorithm could greatly increase the diagnosing accuracy.
