Stress monitoring and affection analysis of backfill improved by dynamic consolidation

In order to test the effect of backfill soil improved by dynamic consolidation and discover the possibility of dynamic consolidation in rainy area,the excess pore water pressure and soil stress is monitored when the foundation soil of Guilin International Exhibition Center is improved by dynamic consolidation. The result of analyzed data indicates that reinforced deepth is 3 8 m when tamping energy is 2 000 kN·m and 5~6 blows and 4 5 m when 7~8 blows.The effective area of improvement is at about 3 m away from the impact point under the floor level 4 m.After impaction about 8 h,the excess pore water pressure has dissipated 75%.The result of plate loading test indicates:the bearing capacity f k=206 5 kPa,and modulus of compressibility E s=13 35 MPa and settlement 25 2 mm under pressure of 300 kPa. as expected. Besides,the drainage should be strengthened after dynamic consolidation in rainy area like Guilin.
