The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute bench to bassinet Program: a new paradigm for translational research.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect and is a significant source of morbidity and mortality in children. Despite considerable recent progress in the clinical arena, we have a lot yet to learn about the causes of CHD and the genetic modifiers of clinical outcome. It is our
