No-reference remote sensing image quality assessment method using visual properties

Blur and noise are two common distortion factors affecting remote sensing image quality. Those two factors influence each other in both the space and frequency domains and it is difficult to objectively evaluate remote sensing image quality when both kinds of distortion occur simultaneously. This paper describes a no-reference image quality assessment method(PSSIM)for analyzing the image visual properties based on the human visual system for different incentives combined with a structural similarity(SSIM)measure. This method considers both the blur and the noise and does not require a reference image as the basis of the image quality assessment.Tests show that the method provides with similar quality as full-reference methods. This method is an accurate and reliable no-reference remote sensing image quality assessment method, which is easy to implement.
