Guest Editorial: Bio-Inspired Computing Models and Algorithms

Biological organisms develop and survive in nature solely relying on their adaptation and evolution capability. They encounter and resolve various challenging problems brought by the harsh environment. Computer scientists and researchers look at the phenomenon of problem-solving by adaption and evolution of biological organisms, subsequently, mimic, abstract, and theorize it to provide solutions to real-life science and engineering problems. Then, it becomes biologically inspired computing, i.e., bio-inspired computing (BIC). This special issue of IEEE TRansactions on Nanobioscience provides a platform to collect the recent advancements in the field of BIC with the focus of models, algorithms, applications, and methods. There were 15 initial submissions to this special issue. Eventually, six research articles are carefully selected.
