Ubiquitous surface tactile sensor is a sensor sensible of pressure and its position on a flexible curbed surface. This technology was developed for a surface tactile sensor over the body of a seal-type robot for therapy, and then the sensor was used practically and successfully. The sensor was developed by the author and Microgenics Co., a electronic parts company. The future applications of this sensor are expected as follows: Toy robots and stuffed toys providing mental and physiological effect for patients or aged people, wearable sensors with a touch-panel function allowing rolling or wearing them, vehicle seats, aircraft seats, and office chairs that are sensible of subtle pressure and maintain the best comfortableness, bedsore-free patient beds, and keyless flat PC keyboards.
