Virtual layered Chord: A topology matching method for structured P2P system

A fundamental problem that confronts structured P2P systems is the mismatched topology between overlay network and physical network. Based on structured P2P network Chord, this paper presents virtual two-layered Chord, A node's identifier is assigned by hashing the node's Gateway address and IP address, it makes the same network segment nodes logically adjacent. Results from simulations show that virtual two-layered Chord significantly improves the efficiency of the physical routing while keeping the original chord characteristics
