This paper presents a design of a wideband array antenna consisting of a leaf-shaped bowtie slot antenna (LSBSA). A four-element LSBSA array is designed such that the array operates over the frequency band of 7-10GHz. In order to demonstrate the effective performance of the presented configuration, characteristics of the designed LSBSA array are evaluated by the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) analysis. Over the frequency band from 7GHz to 10GHz, the simulated reflection coefficient is observed to be less than -8dB, and the actual gain of 10-12dBi is obtained. Measured results for the prototype array antenna are also presented in order to confirm the validity of the simulated results obtained by the FDTD analysis.
